WWJD (What Would Jesus Drink?)

Apparently the Southern Baptist Convention overwhelmingly passed a resolution last week condemning the manufacture and consumption of alcohol. Moreover, the resolution also suggested that no one who drinks alcoholic beverages should even be elected to the convention's boards, committees, or entities. Kudos to Tom Ascol, a reformed Baptist and executive director of the Founders Ministries, who opposed the resolution and pointed out that Jesus actually turned water into wine. See "Debate on Alcohol use Dominates Resolutions Committee Report Time."

Not only is there Tom Ascol's reference to Jeszus making wine, one can look at I Timothy 5:23 and see another reference to consumption of alochol being okay.

Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities I Timothy 5:23

Of course the scripture speaks of "a little wine" which can be referenced to abuse of alcohol is the sin where as it is referenced numerous times in the Bible.

Based on the read in the link provided I can only see embarrassment coming to the Southern Baptist within its membership abroad.
